The Wellbeing 1st Responder Trainer is able to demonstrate measurable improvements in organisational and individual levels of wellbeing through training and supporting employees in championing, advocating and responding to the wellbeing needs of their peers. Creation of this peer support structure empowers and enables people to alter their culture from the bottom up. Evidence shows that building a supportive community not only increases problem solving, decision making and creativity, but also co-operation – and therefore has a significant on improving business performance, as well as reducing the business costs associated with sickness absence, presenteeism and attrition.

To become an approved W1R trainer you must have the following:
  • Evidence of training or teaching qualifications or significant experience in training or teaching adults
  • A strong interest in psychology and neuroscience
  • Facilitation skills, a non judgemental approach and a desire to be continuously learning.

Course Details

As a Wellbeing 1st Responder Approved Trainer you will use knowledge of neuroscience to guide you in training employees to support their peers. You will learn how to train your students in light touch coaching skills that enable open and honest conversations in an ordinary or day to day setting. You will be able to judge what is and what is not confidential and guide your students in relation to their needs, concerns and learning in becoming a Wellbeing 1st Responder.

6 – 12 months of online study with tutorials, live online workshops, supported and supervised delivery.

Qualification: School of NeuChem Coaching Approved Wellbeing 1st Responder Trainer; Wellbeing 1st Responder ILM Recognised certificate.

Scope of Practice: Wellbeing 1st Responder, Wellbeing 1st Responder Approved Trainer.

  • Have a deep understanding of the role of Wellbeing 1st Responders in preventing, connecting, supporting, and protecting colleagues and themselves, and understand how to apply this knowledge to their role as a Wellbeing 1st responder trainer
  • Be able to plan and deliver the Wellbeing 1st Responder programme and assess and support students to success, reflecting on and planning for their future development as a Wellbeing 1st Responder Trainer.

A blended course, you will learn through a mixture of online study, live online workshop sessions, group tutorials, supervision sessions, and a supportive peer forum. Live online workshops

  • 8x active sessions where you will go on a “deeper dive” and explore more concepts related to the personal study, and have the opportunity to put your learning into practice. Come together with your cohort in a supportive arena, ask questions, learn – and have fun!

Supervision sessions, group tutorials, peer forum.

Personal Study.

    Unit 1: Qualification as a Wellbeing 1st Responder

    Achieve full qualification as a Wellbeing 1st Responder. This is a pre-requisite to the trainer programme

    Unit 2: A deeper dive into the neuroscience of wellbeing at work

    • explore the evolution of coaching and mentoring in the workplace, and the key defining features of NeuChem Coaching – a tried and tested evidence based approach to coaching in the workplace – and how this methodology differs from standard coaching and mentoring.
    • understand the skills, deep knowledge, and responsibilities that make up an effective coach or mentor; with a strong focus on understanding scope of practice and working safely and ethically.
    • explore the NeuOsckar model in detail, and learn about BENDs and how to use both with your clients during coaching sessions.

    Unit 3: A Trainers Guide to the Wellbeing 1st Responder

    • Understand the specific skills and knowledge that need to be applied when working with Wellbeing 1st Responder students
    • Be confident in using the online learning course to manage students and cohorts
    • Understand how to use Cari to measure wellbeing, including set up and interpretation
    • Gain experience in delivering the live sessions through providing support to a qualified trainer and reflecting on your experience with your tutor

    Unit 4: Teaching Practice and ongoing support from NQT to Fully Approved Trainer – Assessment Module:

    • Build experience and skills through supported delivery of live sessions and interaction with students in online learning course (forum moderation and assignment grading)
    • Holistically review ability to perform effectively as a Wellbeing 1st Responder trainer and develop a plan for future professional development.

Assessments.

  • Assignments are built into the course, at regular points to check and reinforce your learning. They are all bitesize, and fully supported with tips and references. No 10,000 word essays! Your Tutor and Assessor will be there to support you through the assessment process to ensure you gain your qualification.

Post qualification.
